Lee D Jacobs, M.D.

Chairman of the Board

Dr. Lee Jacobs was one of the founding physicians of The Southeast Permanente Medical Group (Kaiser Permanente) in Atlanta in 1985, and was a associate medical director and practicing internist and infectious disease physician with the Medical Group until his retirement in 2007.  Since 1997 he has been the Associate Editor-in-Chief for The Permanente Journal.

In 1992, Dr. Jacobs founded Central Asian Partners, Inc., a nonprofit organization that partnered with the Minister of Health in Kyrgyzstan to assist this new nation in improving health care throughout the country.

He is the co-author of a book on missions – Going Prepared.

Watson Escarment

Board Member

Watson is a Senior Engineer, Construction Project Manager, and Leadership Consultant in metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia. He has more than 20 years of experience as an Engineer and has held a variety of leadership positions in the field of Engineering and has served as consultant to many Fortunate 500 and other top international companies. He has also served a project manager for construction, development, relationship management projects and engagements in the Caribbean country of Haiti.

Crawford Hitt

Board Member

Crawford is the Executive Director for Edu-Pack in Woodstock, Georgia, a nonprofit organization that distributes free school supplies to poor children in developing countries throughout the world. Crawford is the chairman of the board of the North American Haiti Partnership.

Tom Judd

Board Member

Tom has served in healthcare for 40 years, over half for Kaiser Permanente (KP).  Tom was a Naval officer and jet pilot. He is certified in clinical engineering, quality, and health information, using that background for the last 10 years in a national role for KP to improve care quality and safety.  He has served as a World Health Organization health technology (HT) advisor since 1989, developing an HT training program affecting 80 countries. He currently serves on a US EHR/EMR Award team, and as secretary of a global HT association.

Jonathan McCants, Esq.

Board Member

Jonathan is a member of the law firm of Bird, Loechl, Brittain & McCants, LLC, with a concentration in the laws affecting nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations.  He has authored numerous legal articles about charitable organizations and serves as the Religious Organizations columnist for one of the leading publications focusing on laws affecting exempt organizations, Taxation of Exempts, published by Thomson Reuters.  He is a graduate of Furman University and Harvard Law School.
